Krushna Abhishek recalls performing for Comedy Nights Bachao right after his father’s demise; says, “Tervi bhi nahi hui thi… maine socha main ye kaise kar paunga...”
Krushna Abhishek is known for his excellent comic timing and is considered one of the finest comedy actors on Indian television. He has been entertaining audiences with his witty punchlines since his Comedy Circus days. Recently, in an interview with Parag Tyagi for his YouTube channel, Krushna spoke about one of the toughest phases of his life, when he had to perform comedy soon after his father’s demise.
Krushna revealed that Comedy Nights Bachao's producer Vipu D Shah requested him to shoot the episode because they had no bank of episodes. He said, "As far as sadness is concerned, I lost my father in 2016 on August 26 and I was doing Comedy Nights Bachao with Bharti Singh and we used to roast people. I remember Shefali had also come on the show. Shefali, Rakhi Sawant came for an episode and some of the clips are viral from that particular episode. So when my father expired Abhi tervi bhi nahi hui thi. He came to meet me on the 10th day and told me “I’m feeling really bad to ask you to shoot for an episode as we don’t have a bank of episodes”."
He further shared that the producers had locked Katrina's dates for an episode and could not cancel the shoot. "Vipul ji told me they had Katrina’s dates for the shoot and they had no bank episodes. I told him Tervi se pehle dusve din main toh main shooting kar he nahi paaunga. Vipul ji told me, “‘mujhe pata hai main bahot galat cheez bol raha hoon lekin agar tum 3 ghanta shoot kar lo toh humare Saturday ka telecast chala jaayega next day. If there’s no episode what will we do and we can’t do the shoot without you.”
Krushna added, "I thought a lot about it, I haven’t even performed my father’s tervi, so how will I shoot for the show? But I just remembered my father's words: work is important and the show must go on. He was a believer in Lord Krishna and named me after him. He was born on Janmashtami and died also on Janmashtami at the age of 75, in his sleep."
The Bol Bachchan actor also shared how Katrina Kaif came to meet him after hearing about his situation and comforted him with her warmth. He said, "I finally went for the shoot and Katrina learnt that I was shooting in such circumstances. She came to meet me and was extremely warm towards me. It was very sweet of her. Woh joh warmth mili na mujhe, I’ve worked with many actresses but I have always liked her because of her nature. I respect others also, but I’ve immense respect for her in my heart."
Krushna also credited Bharti Singh for her support during the tough phase. "I finally shot the episode and Bharti, who is my sister, she supported me a lot during that phase. We did the episode par uss time mujhe laga tha ke main kaise karunga episode. Lekin phir kaam aapka kaam hai aapko karna he padega," he concluded."
Krushna Abhishek and Bharti Singh hosted Comedy Nights Bachao from 2015 to 2017. The show featured many popular television actors like Karan Wahi, Adaa Khan, Shruti Seth, Anita Hassanandani. It also featured many famous comedians like Sudesh Lehri, Mubeen Saudagar, Shakeel, among others.
