Akashdeep, who has been missing from television screen for the past 8 years, became a household name for his role in the iconic daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He played the role of Tulsi Virani's son, Ansh Gujral. He first made his mark with this show. After Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, he participated in Bigg Boss season 5 as a wildcard contestant. In the controversial reality show, Akashdeep was known for his short-tempered nature and fights with co-contestants like Siddharth Bhardwaj. He also courted controversy after he got into a heated exchange with Sanjay Dutt, which left co-host Salman Khan miffed. During one of the WKV episodes, Salman entered the Bigg Boss 5 house and slammed him for his behaviour. He had a controversial fallout with Salman Khan and later Akashdeep alleged that Salman ruined his career.

He was last seen in 2017 on the show Sher-E-Punjab: Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Akashdeep had taken a break from TV, citing his mother’s health issues. He also opened up about battling depression.
