Laughter Chefs host Bharti Singh faces flak for body-shaming comments against Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon actress Ayesha Khan; netizens say, 'Bharti is just a misogynist'
Ace comedian Bharti Singh, known for her impeccable comic timing and hilarious comebacks, is currently under fire for her body-shaming remarks about actress Ayesha Khan. Bharti, who is currently hosting Laughter Chefs season 3, welcomed the cast of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 over the weekend episodes. They were on the show to promote their upcoming release. Although Bharti is popular for her comedy and witty humour, her comment on Ayesha Khan’s looks upset many viewers, who accused her of body-shaming the actress on national television.
In the episode, all the four actresses of KKPK, Warina, Ayesha, Tridha and Parul Gulati made a grand entry on the sets along with Kapil Sharma. They all were seen shaking a leg on their film’s popular song Pahli Uddi Furrr and Bharti made a comment comparing Ayesha to Krushna Abhishek. Shortly after, Bharti stated, "Jab saari heroine aayi na, mujhe Ayesha ko dekh ke laga, Krushna phir se aa gaya, kyunki uski tarah lambi hai na (After seeing Ayesha, I thought Krushna returned because she is tall like Krushna).”
Kapil quickly interrupted and asked Bharti, “Was this a compliment or what?” Parul Gulati immediately corrected Bharti and said, "Ye Nahi bolna tha," to which Bharti replied, “Sorry, I am pregnant.”
Although Ayesha looked taken aback, she handled the joke in a sporting manner.
The video has gained traction online, as several viewers shared their disappointment over Bharti making jokes about Ayesha’s appearance and body-shaming her.
A user wrote, "Bharati is rude with most women on the show, participants or guests, and body shaming jibes from someone who made it big as a comedian sheerly for the way she looked (more fat, less funny) are BRAVE."
Another one wrote, "exactly this season bharti is being really mean to the new girls trio specially teja and she does not realise at one point it gets really hurtful and rude." A netizen wrote, "Bharti needs to leave, this wasn’t funny and plain disrespectful to bigger sized woman. Even though Ayesha isn’t even that."
Another comment read, "Bharti is just a misogynist. Just because she is a working woman doesn’t change her mindset. Even if you watch her vlogs, you’ll feel this. The joke wasn’t even funny."
Laughter Chefs season 3 has opened to great numbers. The show was in the number 3 slot last week. The season 3 of the show features new jodis like Gurmeet Choudhary-Debinna Bonnerjee, Elvish Yadav-Isha Malviya, Eisha Singh-Vivian Dsena and Karan Kundrra-Tejasswi Prakash.
