Manik Bedi on the most difficult part of his role on 'Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye': Getting into Harshvardhan’s skin took me some time
Manik Bedi, who has worked as an actor and producer in several movies and serials, is back on television in a never-before-seen avatar, portraying Armaan Oberio’s (Vijayendra Kumeria) father,
What made you say, ‘Yes’ to Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye?’
I was very fascinated when I first heard the story and the way Harshvardhan’s character was written. Another reason to say ‘yes’ to the role was the fact that in real life, I am the exact opposite to Harshvardhan. Other than that, I was very clear that I did not want to portray the same kind of roles time and again. This is my second stint on television, and it only made sense for me to explore wider horizons to see how much I can stretch myself as an actor.
Do you agree with Harshvardhan's Ideologies?
In all honesty, my personality and ideologies are very different from my on screen character. Harshvardhan is someone who believes that a woman should be domesticated, should take care of the house and family, and that the man is responsible for taking care of his wife. I, on the other hand, have idolized every woman who is part of my life --- be it my mother, wife, sister, or daughter.
What has been the most difficult aspect of playing such a character?
As I mentioned previously about how my personality is as a person, getting into Harshvardhan’s skin took me some time. He is someone who doesn’t look up to women in his life and makes them do what he thinks is right. To portray a character like him, I had to separate my viewpoint and understand the nuances of Harshvardhan's life story and the reason behind why he does what he does. So, I give my best even if I do not enjoy it at times. It is difficult.
How does it feel making a comeback to the small screen?
It's great to be back where I belong. Particularly, when you have such a strong script for a comeback. Small screen has always been my happy place, and I've been waiting for something good to come along that would entice me to return to it. The 2 years of lockdown initiated the actor in me and now I’m all geared up for Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Can you elaborate your equation with your fellow cast members?
I have a strong bond with all my co-stars. It's great to be working with such talented and hardworking people. Vidhi and Vijayendra are two beautiful souls I love working with, and Alka Ji has been extremely helpful and friendly. We’ve got a lot of things to learn from her and I've had a great time sharing the screen with them.
What can the viewers expect in the coming episodes?
There will be many twists and turns in the upcoming episodes, but one thing I can guarantee is that there will be plenty of takeaways for the viewers. So, I urge the viewers to keep supporting us.
Any message for your fans and viewers?
I am elated with the love and appreciation that has come my way. I hope viewers have been enjoying my portrayal and continue to support us as always.
