Exclusive: Miley Jab Hum Tum fame Abhishek Sharma all set to get married this year to girlfriend Kanan Sharma, says ‘From Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, I said keh diya pyaar hai’

Actor Abhishek Sharma, who played Hrithik Roshan’s brother in his debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and later did TV shows like Miley Jab Hum Tum, Yaro Ka Tashan, is all set to tie the knot with actress Kanan Sharma. The couple had an intimate ceremony in February and are looking forward to taking the plunge this year. In an exclusive interaction with ETimes TV, Abhishek revealed how he met Kanan, their love story during lockdown, wedding plans and more. (All pics: Instagram)

I knew Kanan’s sister-in-law and actress Malini Kapoor. I worked with her in Yaro Da Tashan and I knew her husband (Kanan’s brother). But I never met Kanan during the course of the show. So before lockdown, we happened to meet during an audition. And then a lockdown was announced. We were in touch as we were working on something together for a digital platform.

While talking and interacting, our love blossomed organically. We were eagerly waiting for the lockdown to lift so that we could meet each other. I knew Ajay and Malini but I didn’t tell them about being friends with Kanan. So once the lockdown lifted, we met and after a few meetings we started dating. Both our families didn’t know about us for a long time.

Once on Valentine’s Day, I decided to make Kanan meet my mom. I told Kanan to react just opposite and throw tantrums. I told her to be nasty to my mother. I pulled a prank on my mom. My mother was shocked to see her reactions and then we all had a laugh.

Kanan posted about me on my birthday and that’s when everyone got to know about us. I was supposed to go to Jaipur to meet her parents and three days before, they asked me if I would like to take things ahead. Her father initiated it and arranged for a roka ceremony. Kanan and I didn’t even didn’t discuss. It felt like Shark Tank. We just looked at each other and it was like, ‘Chalo kar lo.’ It was a beautiful event. Her family arranged everything. My family couldn’t attend.

We both are very old school, when it comes to romance. Our thought processes are same. Our frequency matches. We come from a humble family background. We are very family oriented. In this day and age, when people are contemplating marriage, we are two stupid people who want to go the traditional way.

We haven’t decided on the D-date yet. My sister is abroad. The roka just happened. We want the wedding to be attended by all. We’ll decide on a date this year. Abhi roka ke baad kya bacha hai. Kanan is my best friend. We share everything. I share less because I forget things.

Kanan is a very grounded person and simple at heart. There have been a lot of instances where I might lose my cool, but she has kept me grounded. She has taught me to go around things and work it out. She is very supportive and stood by me through a lot of things. The family that she has come from, the values she has, is just amazing. I fell in love with her family as well. They are very loving and supportive.
