Monalisa Biswas: I have been wearing sarees since the age of 16
Actress Monalisa Biswas, who was last seen in the show
Monalisa’s love for the Indian attire dates back to her childhood, when she grew up seeing her mother wearing sarees on a daily basis. “My mom wears sarees every day. A red bindi, lipstick and saree is what she is all about. When I started working at the age of 16 in a hotel, I would wear a saree. We were taught how to drape it perfectly,” she says.
It's not just for the look, she also finds it very comfortable. “I don’t have any problem in a saree. I hear many-a-times that people find it difficult to wear it to work. I can even dance freely in a saree,” she says.
Apart from the traditional style, Monalisa also likes to experiment with her attire. She says, "Depending on the occasion, I choose a saree and it could be chiffon or banarasi. But for parties the body hugging sarees are my favourite."
She remembers the time when during Durga Puja recently she styled a saree and people appreciated it. “I was in Kolkata this Durga Puja and I had draped my saree in a different way and people started wondering how I managed to do that," she says.
