Munmun Dutta recalls how she got Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah; says 'I was 17 and I had done just one show'

Farah Khan recently went to Taarak Mehta's Babitaji, aka Munmun Dutta's place, for a fun Bengali treat. The actress cooked a scrumptious meal for Farah and left her mesmerised by the authentic Bengali dishes. While having a chat, Munmun recalled her early days, how she bagged Taarak Mehta and more.

Munmun recalls working with Farah Khan for an ad. She shared, "Ma'am, I have worked with you many years back. Even before Taarak Mehta, I had done an ad shoot with you. It was Navratna Tel. It was 16-17 years back. We shot it in Film City, and Shah Rukh sir was also there. There were three girls in the shoot, and I was one of them."

Munmun further shared on working with Shah Rukh Khan, "I feel very lucky, and we, as the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah team, always believe we are blessed because Shah Rukh sir holds us in high regard. He has been my childhood crush, or I should say my eternal crush. People say you shouldn't meet your crush but with Shah Rukh sir, people fall more in love with him."

Munmun adopted vegetarianism, "I was not a vegetarian before, I am a Bengali. I have eaten Mutton and everything in childhood but then after seeing how they get butchered and while growing up you realise so I shifted to vegetarian eating habits. I don't allow meat in my house but have specially cooked chicken for you."

I got Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah through auditions. I had done a show when I was in college, I was 17 years old. I had done the show Hum Sab Baraati at that time and that was my first ever acting experience, I didn't even know how to do it.

I had shifted from Kolkata to Pune, I was studying there and then I started to come to Mumbai for work. I had participated in Gladrags and I remember I didn't have money and how much of a struggle I went through. So when I look back I feel I am blessed and happy wherever I reached.

Munmun shared, "When we did the ad, I was told that you were very strict and would scold everyone if things didn't go your way." To which Farah replied, "I remember and that is why I had come to the vanity and told you all that I wasn't strict, it was just that I need things to be proper."

Munmun revealed that she was quite young when she started shooting for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, "When I started the show I was only 20 years old. The senior actors on the show are much older than me."
