Saumangalyam
this year.
Sharing some details about the
Navratri celebrations at home, she said, “Navratri refers to new beginnings for us, and that’s why new purchases are done around this time. The most important part of the celebrations is performing the Saumangalyam. It is a gesture where we invite our female friends, and apply haldi and Kumkum on their forehead and gift them with betel leaves, coconut and betel nuts. We also enjoy playing garba and dandiya during the nine days of the festival. But looking at the pandemic, last year we missed but this year I am planning to play with my family members in a small get together.”
Like every year, this year, too, Muskaan would be feeding nine kanyas at home. The actress also says that daughters are a very important part of the family and reveals about worshipping her daughter Manat during the festivities.
Muskaan shared, “The festival of Navratri is celebrated in honor of
Goddess Durga
, who is considered to be the true manifestations of power. This festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Basically, for us, Navratri is celebrated by keeping fast for the first 7 days and then breaking their fast on the next two days by worshipping nine little girls and a boy, also known as
Kanjika
. We worship my daughter as goddess devi shakti,” she added.
