TV reality shows are no longer 'real'. It's not just the sob stories that are sold to the audience but also some scripted and fake love tales. All this is done to keep the viewers hooked and boost the TRPs. Here's taking a look at celebs and contestants who faked relationships on TV.

In season 11 of Indian Idol, both Neha and Aditya flirted with each other and pretended to be in love. Even their parents appeared on the show and gave them their blessings. Pawandeep and Arunita have been constantly linked romantically on Indian Idol 12. They have sung love songs together and entertained the audience. When Pawantdeep was away, Arunita also confessed to missing him. However, it was all fake. While talking to an entertainment portal, Aditya confessed it himself. He said that it's all done to entertain the viewers.

In the premiere episode of Bigg Boss 12, Jasleen Matharu surprised everyone when she entered the stage with Anup Jalota and claimed they were in a relationship. Their age gap stunned everyone. Even on the show, they behaved like they were in love. Once the show got over, Anup Jalota clarified that Jasleen is like his daughter and in fact, he will do her 'kanyadaan'. Later even Jasleen cleared the air by saying that they only share a 'guru-shishya' relationship.

Rakhi Sawant's 'swayamvar' led her to get engaged to NRI Elesh Parujanwala. She even participated in Pati, Patni Aur Woh with him. Eventually the whole affair went kaput and the two soon parted ways.

Dancer Shantanu Maheshwari grabbed headlines for entering Nach Baliye 9 with Nityaami Shirke who he claimed was his girlfriend. However, there were several reports that stated they were not lovers but just friends. Later in 2020, Nityaami herself told TOI, "Shantanu and I started dating around April 2019, while we were shooting for the promos of a web series. During Nach Baliye, we were getting to know each other. Being on the show helped us bond because we dealt with a lot during those five months. Nothing ever went wrong with our relationship. It’s just that we realised that we are better off as friends. We called it quits in February this year. However, he is still very much a part of my life and a good friend. And, we prefer it that way."

In Nach Baliye 7, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai fame Sana Sayyed entered the show with Dipesh Patel. Unlike their claims, there were reports stating the two are just friends and not dating each other. Back then, a source had told TOI, "Sana is a good dancer and teaming up with Dipesh, who is a choreographer, can prove to be a win-win situation for them. In real life though, the two are just friends and not a couple."

Karan Patel and Amita Chandekar impressed everyone with their chemistry on the third season of Nach Baliye. However, once the reality show ended, Karan confessed himself that he wasn't in a relationship with Amita. He in fact said that they faked it to be a part of Nach.

In Bigg Boss 4, Sara got closer to Ashmit Patel despite being in a committed relationship with Ali Merchant. Things changed when Ali entered the house. The two got married but it turned out to be a publicity stunt as they broke up right after the reality show.
