Recalling their time together, Goswami shared, “After the unfortunate passing of Madan Kumar, who directed the first 52 episodes of Parampara, Ramesh Gupta stepped in and ensured the show ran successfully for five years. He was a very good man and a disciplined director.”

Gupta was known for his efficiency on set, completing shoots well ahead of schedule. Goswami noted, “He always believed in finishing work early if possible. If the shoot was scheduled from 9 to 6, he’d often wrap up by 4:30, leaving everyone amazed. His philosophy was simple: why make the unit wait unnecessarily?”

Apart from his professional excellence, Gupta was remembered for his personal warmth. Goswami shared a touching anecdote about buying Gupta’s house in Andheri without even seeing it, as Gupta moved to a larger home in Malad. Gupta’s annual New Year’s calls were a cherished tradition for Goswami, who said, “Every morning on New Year’s Day, without fail, he’d call me. That was the bond we shared.”

Parampara, featuring stars like Mohan Bhandari, Neena Gupta, Anil Dhawan, and Shagufta Ali, remains a milestone in Indian television. Gupta’s dedication to his craft and his personal connections left an indelible mark on colleagues and audiences alike. His loss is deeply felt in the industry, but his legacy will continue to inspire.
