Pavitra Rishta fame Priya Marathe passes away at 38 after battle with cancer
The sudden demise of Priya Marathe has shaken the television industry. Popular actress Priya Marathe has passed away at the age of 38. The actress, who was known for her remarkable roles in both Marathi and Hindi television, breathed her last at her residence in Mira Road, Mumbai on August 31.
Priya had been battling cancer for the past few years. Though she initially showed signs of recovery, the disease relapsed and began spreading again in her body. Despite undergoing treatment, her body eventually stopped responding, leading to her untimely demise.
Born on April 23, 1987, in Mumbai, Priya completed her schooling and college in the city before stepping into the world of acting. She began her television career with Marathi serials like Ya Sukhanoya and Char Divas Sasuche, quickly establishing herself as a promising performer.
Her breakthrough came when she portrayed Vidya Bali in Ekta Kapoor’s Kasamh Se. She also made a mark in comedy with her participation in the first season of Comedy Circus. Priya’s portrayal of Varsha Satish in hit serial Pavitra Rishta earned her immense recognition among audiences across India.
Priya further expanded her presence on television with her role as Jyoti Malhotra in Bade Acche Lagte Hain (2012). Her other television projects included Tu Tithe Me, Bhaage Re Mann, Jayastute, and Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap.
Apart from television, Priya showcased her acting talent in films as well. She appeared in the 2008 Hindi movie Humne Jeena Seekh Liya and later featured in the Marathi film Ti Ani Itar, directed by Govind Nihalani, alongside acclaimed actors like Sonali Kulkarni, Subodh Bhave, and Amruta Subhash.
Priya Marathe’s sudden demise has left fans and the entertainment fraternity in shock. She will be remembered for her versatility, warmth, and the unforgettable characters she brought to life on screen. She is survived by her husband and actor Shantanu Moghe, who she married in April 24, 2012.
