Pratham Kunwar joins Yeh Hai Chahatein as the new antagonist; says would like to play a positive character next

Last seen in Rajjo in a negative character, Pratham Kunwar is all set to repeat his mean act in Yeh Hai Chahatein. The actor will join the show to play Siddharth Rathod, who is back to take revenge on Samrat (Abrar Qazi) for destroying his brother Raghav Rathod’s (Kushagre Dua) business. Pratham shares, “I will be introduced as the new antagonist, who was abroad and is back now to take revenge on Samrat.He is the reason why my onscreen brother is suffering both emotionally and financially. My entry will result in a major twist in the storyline.”
There are talks of the show going in for a time leap. The actor says, “Even I have heard the same. I think the time leap will be introduced after a couple of months. According to what has been narrated to me, I might continue after the leap as well.”
YHC hit the tube in December 2019 and has seen many changes since. Ask Pratham about joining a long-running show midway and he replies, “I don’t mind joining YHC midway, as it is doing well. Also, I care the most about my character and what I am getting to do in a show. Siddharth is an important character in the upcoming storyline.”
Talking about the challenge, he says, “It takes a while to befriend your co-actors, who have already forged a bond because of working together for so long. Today is my first day on the set and I am finding my own space. Having said that, my focus is on my work and doing it to the best of my abilities.”
While he has been playing negative characters of late, he is yearning to portray a positive one now. He says, “I played negative characters in Meet – Badlegi Duniya Ke Reet and Rajjo and now I will be seen repeating the act in YHC. I enjoy playing the negative character because it offers great scope of performance and exploration as an actor. However, I hope I don’t get typecast. I would like to play a positive character after this show, maybe feature as the male lead in a family drama. I want to break away from my negative screen image.”
