Rachana Mistry: Jagriti is a powerful role and I am glad makers are writing such roles for women in TV shows

Rachana Mistry, who was last seen in TV show Dabangi Mulgi Aayi Re, is all set to play the grown up Jagriti in the TV show Jagriti - Ek Nayi Subah. The actress said, "I am glad that after Dabangi, I have bagged yet another powerful role. Jagriti belongs to a community where people cannot study or educate themselves. They have to work as labourers. My role Jagriti is a young girl who will step out from such customs and educate herself. I am happy that we are writing such powerful roles for women in TV. It is important for an actor to essay different roles."

Rachana, who started her career playing the antagonist, is now essaying lead roles. She said, "In Thapki Pyaar Ki 2 I played a negative role. But then I bagged Na Umra Ki Seema Ho. Over the years, I have learnt a lot about acting from my colleagues."

Rachana shared further, "I haven't started shooting for Jagriti yet. I will get to know more about her role after I start shooting. But, I feel very close to my character in Dabangi. She was a strong, powerful woman who fought for her father. In real life, too, I have been brought up to face all odds and overcome problems in life."

On the personal front, Rachana got engaged to businessman Amit Madaan in December 2024. The couple plan to tie the knot this year. Rachana said, "We haven't set a wedding date yet. As of now we have just done a roka. I am glad that I have found my soulmate."
