Rajashree Thakur, Ashlesha Savant mourn Saat Phere co-star Surekha Sikri’s demise; TV celebs share their condolences

It’s a sad day for the entertainment industry. The industry is mourning the loss of National Award winning actress Surekha Sikri’s demise. She was 75.
Many celebrities took to social media to share their condolences. Ashlesha Savant, who worked with the actress in Saat Phere, wrote a long note. She poured her heart out as she said, “I don’t even know where to start. You are a legend.We’d all agree when I say this , an institution in acting and an insanely ,astoundingly terrific performer . They don’t make like you any more !!!!!!! I should thank my stars I got to share screen with the likes of you and We shared a make up room!!!! And in that room She taught me , she taught an absolutely ungrateful ,budding upcoming actress who was a party girl , what it means to be an actor and what it means to be alive.”

Neena Gupta, who also shared screen space with Surekha Sikri in shows like Saat Phere and movie Badhaai Ho, expressed her grief in a video. She shares her experience of working with her and says, “I am deeply grieved. You get to work with such powerful actors very less.” Here’s the full video:

Ashvini Yardi, who produced shows like Saat Phere and Balika Vadhu, wrote, “Deeply Saddened with the news. She immortalised the characters of Bhabho & Dadisa in my shows Saath Phere & Balika Vadhu. I remember always telling my writers to keep adding dadisa’s scenes in every episode as she would light up the entire scene with her stellar performance. There can never be another Surekha Sikri. RIP Surekhaji.”

The actress passed away today (July 16) at the age of 75 due to cardiac arrest. In a statement shared with the media, the agent said the actor had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke.
