Rajasthan’s heritage sites come alive on TV shows
Rajasthan and its rich history have often formed the backdrop of stories in films and television shows. Forts, palaces and other heritage properties in the state have turned shooting set for many Hindi TV shows, and the latest to join the bandwagon is
RAJAA BETAA IN JAIPUR
Actor Rrahul Sudhir, who portrays the character of Vedant Tripathi on the show Rajaa Betaa, recalls the time he was shooting in Jaipur.
He said, “When I was told that Rajaa Betaa’s set was located in Jaipur, I was extremely excited, as I love the city. It’s beautiful and so rich in culture. A lot of history is attached to this city and every fort situated here has a different story to tell. Amer Fort is one of my favourite places here.”
EK SHRINGAAR… SWAABHIMAAN IN BUNDI
In 2016, Ek Shringaar… Swaabhimaan was aired on TV which was shot in several locations in Jaipur and Bundi, including Panna Meena Kund, Taragarh Fort and Raniji Ki Baori. Prachee Shah Paandya said, “I feel, Jaipur takes you back to ancient times. It is a perfect amalgamation of traditional and modern India . The scenic landscapes and picturesque locations are a treat to the eye.”
Ankita, who played the character of Naina, one of daughters on the show said, “The experience of shooting around exotic havelis and scenic locales of the pink-washed Jaipur was surreal. Whenever I would get some time, I would go for shopping and sightseeing.”
KESARI NANDAN IN JAISALMER
The show inspired from the Bollywood film Dangal, revolves around the life of a wrestler, played by actor Manav Gohil whose daughter, played by Chahat Tewani aspires to be a wrestler just like her father.
The initial episodes of the show were shot in Jaisalmer. Aastha Chaudhary who portrays Kesari’s mother onscreen said, “Even though the show is inspired from a movie, it has much more to offer. As it is a daily soap, the audience gets to see the colourful state, its culture and history.”
EK BHRAM SARVAGUN SAMPANNA IN UDAIPUR
Actress Shrenu Parikh who will be seen in the upcoming show, Ek Bhram Sarvagun Sampanna began shooting for the show’s launch in Udaipur recently at a 1000-year-old Saas Bahu temple. Says Shrenu, “We visited the Saas-Bahu temple in Udaipur for the launch of our upcoming show and I think it’s the best launch I could have asked for. The place was amazing and the weather magical.”
JIJI MAA IN JAIPUR
Jiji Maa, a show which recently went off air had a wedding sequence that was shot on the outskirts of Jaipur.
