Dutee Chand became the first Indian ever to win gold in the 100m race at a global meet when she finished first in the event at the World
Universiade
in Napoli on Wednesday (July 10).
National record holder Dutee became the first Indian woman track and field athlete to clinch a gold medal in the World Universiade after she won the 100m dash event.
Dutee’s win is being applauded nationwide.
Neha Dhupia, who is currently seen on Roadies Real Heroes, dedicated a post on her social media handle. She congratulated Dutee on her big win and wrote, “History has been made by this unbelievable woman... congratulations @DuteeChand ... you are a legend in the making! #jaihind.”

After winning the race, Dutee, who recently admitted to having a relationship with a girl, tweeted: “Pull me down, I will come back stronger!”
This is the first gold medal for India at this edition of the games. No Indian had qualified for the 100-meter final in the history of the University Games before this.
