Sana Khan refutes claims that husband Mufti Anas Sayed ‘brainwashed’ her to quit Bollywood or embrace religion; says, ‘I wanted peace’
Former actress Sana Khan, who came to the limelight after participating in Bigg Boss season 6, shocked fans with her decision to quit Bollywood. Sana left the entertainment industry in 2020, saying she wanted to "serve humanity and follow the path of her Creator." Later, she married Muslim cleric Mufti Anas Sayed on November 21, 2020. Now, in a chat show with Rashami Desai, Sana spoke about leaving the entertainment industry and her marriage and shared that both decisions were very personal and private.
While speaking about her wedding, Sana revealed that her wedding with Anas was a 'top secret' and only her parents and in-laws knew about it. She said, "When our marriage was finalized, it was top secret, nobody knew except for my mom and dad. Nobody even knew the groom’s name. When I was applying mehndi, the mehndi artist asked me what the groom’s name was. I told her to leave it blank, we’ll write it next time.”
She opened about her decision about quitting the entertainment industry. Sana said she stepped away from showbiz because of a change she felt within herself. "The situation was such that major changes were happening in my life. I was literally transforming into a different person. And this was not something caused by my husband, it was something I wanted for myself. He was the one who guided me in that direction.”
Sana, who announced leaving the industry at the peak of her career, spoke about how online trolls claimed that her husband had “brainwashed” her. Denying the speculations, Sana said, "People usually think that someone must have brainwashed me because my life changed so suddenly, but that’s not true. No one can influence you unless you want it yourself. I wanted peace. You get money, fame, name, and respect, but in the end, everyone is running after sukoon. Like most women, I also wanted to get married, have children, and build a good home."
She further said, "They say that when your surroundings aren’t right, your decisions also tend to be wrong. As time passed, I learned a few things, and that’s why I value my relationship with him so much. I keep telling my husband that I could have never found anyone better than him. It was indeed a tough decision, but I went for it."
The couple, who got married in 2020, is now blessed with two sons, Tariq Jamil and Saiyad Hasan Jamil.
