'Sasural Simar Ka' actress Shweta Sinha joins the cast of 'Shakti'
After casting
The actress took a break of almost a year after 'SSK' wrapped up. She says, "I was a part of the show right since its inception, which ran for seven years. I wanted something as nice as my character in 'SSK' to come my way. It was an amazing character and I didn't want to take up just about anything after that. Also, a few offers that I liked didn't materialise, citing budget disagreements. Showbiz is an unpredictable business. Today, you could be at the top of your game, but the very next moment you may not have work. Besides, budget, too, can be a constraint for you to find the right kind of work. Those in the casting business are often averse to working with established and seasoned faces because of their high fees. I think it's easier for newcomers today to find work as they work, even on a lower budgets."
She adds, "I'm also quite selective about the kind of roles I take up and I expect to be paid well. I guess, that's the reason why it took me so long to get back on TV. Long breaks from work can be frustrating and depressing. So, I think acting should never be the only source of income. There should be a back-up plan for financial security."
Sareeka Dhillon
as the new leading lady opposite Vivian Dsena in the long-running TV show, 'Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki
', the makers have now roped in actress Shweta Sinha to play a pivotal character. The actress, who became a household name with 'Sasural Simar Ka
', will now play Saahil Uppal's sister on the show. She will be seen as someone who has a domineering presence. She says, "It feels great to be back on the same channel and work with the same production house, which gave me the biggest role of my career so far. I have enjoyed my seven-year-long journey on 'SSK'. I am glad that I am getting to collaborate with them again for their show, 'Shakti' which is quite popular. I really hope that I can leave a mark with my performance, like I did with SSK. I do hope to make the producers proud of their choice."She adds, "I'm also quite selective about the kind of roles I take up and I expect to be paid well. I guess, that's the reason why it took me so long to get back on TV. Long breaks from work can be frustrating and depressing. So, I think acting should never be the only source of income. There should be a back-up plan for financial security."
