Shark Tank India's Vineeta Singh on how entering her 40s reminded her of a mid-life crisis, writes "I do plan to enjoy life’s beautiful contradictions without being uncomfortable with the grey"

Shark Tank India's Vineeta Singh recently celebrated her 40th birthday, the shark shared how a mid-life crisis hits her at 40 and what she has learnt from these 4 decades of different phases in life. Here's what she had to share:

2/9

More birthday wishes from Mutual funds than friends

Vineeta took to her Instagram handle and joked about how a mid-life crisis hit her with a number of birthday wishes she received from banks rather than friends. She wrote, "If wearing ripped denim for the first time at the age of 40 isn’t a mid-life crisis, then having more birthday wishes from mutual funds than people definitely is."

3/9

Embracing the greys after a special decade

Vineeta shared how each decade of her life has been extremely special and now she is set to embrace the new changes and also welcome the greys without being uncomfortable. She wrote, "Have dreaded 40 for a couple of years now because the last decade was so special and in spite of what everyone said about the 40s being amazing for women, I couldn’t imagine how! I was such an idealist in my 20s and my 30s were the opposite - all about self-preservation! But as I begin my fifth decade on earth, I do plan to enjoy life’s beautiful contradictions without being uncomfortable with the grey."

4/9

On being ambitious and hungry for growth

Vineeta opens up about how age doesn't matter to keep growing and staying ambitious. She shared, "You can age gracefully while being forever young. You can be the most grateful person you know while also being fiercely ambitious. You can have infinite self-belief along with the hunger to grow every day."

5/9

On how spirituality and materialistic metrics can co-exist

Vineeta normalises how being spiritual and having the zeal for materialistic goals for ambitions can co-exist. She wrote, "You can be impatient about the process but patient about the outcomes. You can be deeply spiritual while obsessing with materialistic metrics like profitability, return on investment etc. You can seek wealth to have more freedom but also to make other people’s dreams come true."

6/9

With Family and friends, even self-importance plays a significant role in the growth

Vineeta gives a life lesson on how one should keep their own well-being on priority too, "You can put your family first but ensure it’s never at the cost of your own well-being. You can have friends like family but still, be the happiest in your own company."

7/9

Being generous to oneself is equally important

With big aspirations come major responsibilities and tension. Vineeta shares how it is important to take things seriously, but not that much that it would harm one's mental and physical health. "You can have ambitious goals, delay gratification but still enjoy the small moments and celebrate the silliest of milestones. You can have the discipline to be hard on yourself while also remembering to not take yourself too seriously."

8/9

Celebrate your efforts in making the world a better place

Vineeta shares how one should celebrate each effort that they put into growing and making their surroundings better. She wrote, "You can remember that you’re a tiny speck in the universe and what you do won’t matter in the larger scheme of things but still feel grateful to have the ability to make a difference to everyone around you and try to leave the world a better place when you go."

9/9

Her mother's wise advice

On her 40th birthday, Vineeta shared the advice her mother gave, "all of the above can coexist in perfect harmony - is something I’ve figured out only recently and hence, age and wisdom have some correlation for me. So, as my mom wished me yesterday, let’s dive into another decade of exploring, experimenting, experiencing and evolving."
