Sheetal Maulik, last seen as Sonali Chavan in Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Mein, has now joined the cast of Barsatein - Mausam Pyar Ka. She will play Neeta Khurana, Simba Nagpal’s mother in the show. Neeta is a businesswoman, who is arrogant and indifferent to others’ opinions. She says, “Neeta is different from Sonali Chavan, who had a comic element. Neeta is serious, dominating, and means business. I am particularly excited about this character, as I will get to wear stylish outfits, something I haven’t been able to do for a while. I have mostly worn saris for my previous characters, and I guess that might be the reason why people couldn’t envision me as a modern character. I am looking forward to breaking that mould. The character’s arc is also different from all my previous roles.”

She further adds, “I feel blessed to have played roles from different age groups, including the lead character,
masi, mother, and
saas. I aspire to play characters that suit my age and personality, as that’s what will make me a versatile actor.”
Sheetal began shooting for the show some time ago and her entry is expected to be aired in tonight’s episode. All praise for the unit, she says, “The atmosphere on the set is positive and everyone is quite professional. They have been kind and welcoming to me. The first day of the shoot can be overwhelming for many actors, as it gets difficult to grasp the character and fit into the storyline, and I was no exception. It takes a while to get into the groove and play the part to perfection, and I am glad that the unit has been extremely patient. The director is as cool as a cucumber and the actors are equally good. Whenever I needed a retake, they would tell me, ‘No problem, it’s your first day’. The first day on set is always special and I have butterflies in my stomach. And a good unit can make it even more memorable for you. The cast of Barsatein treated me like an insider and one of them from the get-go. The experience of shooting with them has been wonderful. I am getting to know them slowly. They are superb and I am trying to match up to their level.”
