Shivani Kothari
, who is seen in the role of
Maya Xaviers

Kaamnaa
, spoke to ETimes TV about her on-screen character and the similarities she finds in real life.
Shivani shared, “My role is Maya, she is the head of a modelling agency. She is one confident, ruthless, cynical person. She believes in whatever she does, she does best and with a lot of integrity. Akanksha is her former student. They reunite after 8 years and Maya pushes her to pursue her dreams. I relate to Maya’s character a lot. We are equally strong characters and independent. I like the way Maya shaped her career and is just like me.”
About how she got into acting, Shivani said, “I always wanted to get into acting. I am an optometrist and have done my MBA in hospital management. I was working in MNCs. I was very active in school extracurricular activities. I am a trained classical dancer and earned many awards. I had a few friends, who I knew in the industry. You really have to work on yourself and acting is not easy. I keep reading a lot. I did a lot of workshops. I was a little overweight and worked on myself. In this industry, one has to have good mental health.”
“I was born and brought up in Mumbai. I did my schooling and college from Mumbai. My family supported my dreams and allowed me to follow it. I would like to thank my fans too, who have been supportive,” Shivani added.
