Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh passed away in Delhi on December 26. TV actor Abhay Vakil posted a heartfelt note on his social media account about how his family shared a great connection with one of India's illustrious economist. The actor, who has been part of shows like Palkhi, Silsila Pyaar Ka wrote about how Dr Manmohan Singh was a student of his late grandfather Prof. CN Vakil.
Abhay said, "Dr Manmohan Singh was a student of my grandfather Prof. CN Vakil, who was the founder of Bombay School of Econimics. Our family - my parents and myself have met Dr Singh on some occasions. He also came home to celebrate my grandfather's 100th birth anniversary and meet my grandmother. My parents and I had the opportunity to visit his home a few times in Delhi. I can never forget the gesture and warmth shown towards our family. We have utmost respect for this legend, and prayers for him. It is a matter of pride and honour to have met this man a couple of times in my life."
Abhay shares further, "We have many pictures of Dr Singh visiting my grandmother and parents. He had a great vision and though I was young at that time, I clearly remember his warmth towards our family."
On the professional front, Abhay said, "I am hoping to bag something interesting soon. In the past, I have bagged interesting lead roles in TV shows so I don't want to take up something for the sake of it. Makers are experimenting with newer stories and I will be glad if something interesting is offered. I also want to explore OTT if there is a meaty role for me."
