Sumbul Touqeer Khan on her traditional Maharashtrian bride look in Itti Si Khushi; says ‘Stepping into this attire was a completely refreshing experience for me’
Itti Si Khushi is entering one of its most emotional and defining chapters, and at the heart of it stands Anvita, played by Sumbul Touqeer Khan. Still nursing the pain of Virat’s (Rajat Verma) sudden disappearance on their engagement day, Anvita chooses a path shaped by duty and circumstance. Setting aside her unresolved feelings, she decides to marry her childhood friend Sanjay (Rishi Saxena), a decision that marks both an end and a new beginning for her.
As the much-awaited wedding track unfolds, Sumbul has unveiled Anvita’s stunning Maharashtrian bridal look, a striking departure from the usual lehenga-clad television bride. She is seen in a deep green Nauvari saree adorned with intricate gold motifs, paired with a rich magenta blouse that perfectly complements the traditional ensemble. The look is completed with the iconic mundavalya on her forehead, a delicate nath, layered gold jewellery and a neatly tied bun decorated with jasmine gajra. Soft mehndi and subtle makeup add grace and authenticity, making the look simple yet profoundly powerful.
Talking about the experience, Sumbul shared, “Usually, we see leads in lehengas for their big day, so stepping into this Maharashtrian bridal look was a completely refreshing experience for me. I’ve worn a Nauvari before but wearing it as a bride brought an entirely new wave of emotions.”
She went on to reflect on the emotional impact of wearing traditional bridal ornaments: “Growing up, I’ve admired Maharashtrian brides getting ready with such grace, donning the green bangles, nath and mundavalya. The moment the drape was set and the nath placed, something shifted within me. While shooting, I could feel everything Anvita is experiencing, the love, the hope, the apprehension.”
For Sumbul, this look is not just a visual transformation but an emotional one too. “It’s one of the most memorable looks I’ve ever worn, and I’m genuinely overwhelmed by the love the audience is giving Anvita in this chapter of her life,” she added.
With this powerful turn in Anvita’s journey, viewers are now eagerly waiting to see how her story unfolds.
