The 50: Prince Narula, Karan Patel take a dig at YouTubers and Influencers, claim they’ve ‘destroyed’ the industry; Prince says, '12-second se upar yeh acting nahi kar sakte'

Reality show The 50 has been in the spotlight ever since its launch. The show, which premiered on February 1, has seen heated fights, arguments, and intense tasks right from the very first episode. The show is once again in the news as a discussion inside The 50’s palace took a serious turn after the Safe Card controversy. Prince Narula, Karan Patel's latest statements against content creators have sparked a buzz online. In the recent episode, the duo took a jibe at YouTubers and influencers by alleging that influencers have negatively impacted the industry and achieved success with far less struggle than traditional actors.

Prince initiated the conversation while having a meal with Karan Patel and Ridhi Dogra. Prince said, "Jabse industry main YouTubers ko laaya gaya hai naa tabse industry khatam hogyi hai. Inhone apne industry ke logon ki value kum kardi hai”

Karan added, “Gadhe ghodon ki race main dauda diye (It’s like making donkeys run in a horse race).”

Prince also said that content creators have lowered the value of the industry by using social media tie-ups to create fake hype, “Film waalon bol diya inke saath jaake reel banao, inki hype badh gayi, singers ko bol diya jaake inke saath reel banao, tumhara gaana chalega, inki value badha di. Value bhi aise badha di jaise yeh pata nahi kya hain. 12-seconds se upar yeh acting nahi kar sakte. Kamre ke aage leke aao, yeh bol nahi paate kuch (People in the film industry told others to go make reels with them, and just like that their hype shot up. Singers were also advised to collaborate with them for reels, saying their songs would trend—and suddenly their value skyrocketed. They were hyped as if they’re something extraordinary. The reality is, they can’t act for more than 12 seconds. Put them in front of a camera and they can’t even speak properly).”

Ridhi also joined the conversation and claimed that content creators lack basic professional ethics. She said, "Ek hi cheez hai jo nahi hoti hai inmein, ethics. They are just getting hype, but actors ko mehnat karni hi padti hai."

Karan further fuelled the discussion and pointed out that while things may come easily for some now, actors like them had to “slog, come to Bombay, and struggle for work, to build their careers. He said, "When we started out, we didn’t have so many options to become famous. We slogged our way to get where we are. For them, it’s easy. We didn’t have phones where you could just make a video, upload it and become famous.”
