The 50: Sapna Choudhary reveals she has 35 cases registered against her; recalls a terrifying incident, says, “I kept telling my mom they’re going to shoot us”

Sapna Choudhary, who is seen in 'The 50' as one of the players, recently opened up about her journey as a dancer. During a conversation with Shiv Thakare and Dino James, Sapna spoke about the dark and dangerous phase of her career. She shared around 35 cases have been registered against her and that she is banned from performing in certain areas. The Aakhan Do Kaajal dancer also narrated a dangerous incident from her career.

Sapna said, "I started doing better and better shows after 2018, once I had done Bigg Boss. Before that, things were chaotic at events — there would be stampedes, chairs being thrown, fights breaking out. Mere upar 35 case hai kyunki maine show kiya aur wahan bhaag daud hogayi, Main Bapat, Barod, Meerut uss side par ban hoon. Mere naam se show ki permission nahi milegi (There are around 35 cases against me simply because I performed at shows where chaos erupted. I’m even banned in places like Bapat, Barod, and Meerut. If an event is organised in my name there, permission won’t be granted.)





Sapna further recalled an terrifying incident at a show which left them praying for her life. "One time, we didn’t even have money at home. My mother and I were sitting together, just hoping that some show offer would come our way. We kept saying, ‘Bas koi show mil jaaye. Suddenly, late at night, my phone rang. It was an offer for a show scheduled for the very next night. They asked if I would do it, and I immediately said yes. We were so desperate that we didn’t even ask for the details — not what kind of show it was, where it was happening, or what exactly I had to do. By evening, we reached the venue. It was at a farmhouse. As soon as we walked inside, I saw around 25–26 tables set up, with just two chairs at the back. On each table, there were weapons laid out openly. The entire gathering seemed to be made up of gangsters. It looked like someone had just been released from jail, and they were celebrating.

She added, "First, I sang a solo song, and then I moved on to a duet. While I was performing the solo, one of the men kept coming up to me, whispering something in my ear, and then walking away. My mother asked me what he was saying, but I told her there was so much noise that I couldn’t hear anything clearly. There were at least 50–55 men there. My mother then requested, ‘Please let us leave.’ But one of them replied, ‘How can you leave, Aunty? The dance is still left. Perform the dance and then go. Didn’t we pay you?"

The Haryanvi dancer revealed that she kept telling her mother they might be shot as they struggled to make it out safely. She said, "I went back on stage and started dancing. Suddenly, that same guy came from behind, kissed me on the cheek, and ran off. I immediately walked off and sat down backstage. I said, ‘I’m not doing this anymore. I don’t care what happens. My mother held my hand and confronted them. She said, ‘You invite someone’s daughter or sister here and then behave like this — this is not right.’ She firmly held my hand and started walking me out. There was a long stretch leading to the gate, and we just kept moving forward. As we were walking, I kept telling her, ‘Mummy, they’re going to shoot… this is it.’ I genuinely felt like a bullet would come at any moment. Somehow, we made it out of the gate, got into the car, and only then did I breathe a sigh of relief. It was extremely dangerous.”
