The Great Indian Kapil Show’s Kiku Sharda recalls performing a comedy skit while his mother was hospitalised; says, “I would take small breaks to call her”
The Great Indian Kapil Show is making headlines for its entertaining and exciting episodes. Kiku Sharda, who’s an integral part of the show, recently appeared in a YouTube video with Mr Faisu where he made several revelations. The comedian opened up about his personal as well as professional life.
Kiku revealed that he was expected to perform comedy skits even during moments of grief, as it’s a part of his job. He recalled the time his mother was sick and he had to perform. He even opened up about getting body-shamed, his bond with The Kapil Show’s star cast, and much more.
He shared, “My parents are no more. However, when my mom was alive, there were times when she was unwell and I was expected to perform a comedy act. From within, I was extremely sad but had to do it for work.” He added that during such performances, he would call his mother during breaks to check on her.
Talking about getting trolled for his body weight, he mentioned, “There was a girl who was overweight and wasn’t confident about her body. However, she gained confidence after seeing my performances and thanked me for the same.”
Kiku also spoke about the no-retake policy on The Kapil Sharma Show and said, “There’s no retake culture in the Kapil show. It’s not like people don’t make mistakes there, but we avoid retakes. Once you hop on the stage, no matter what happens there, there’s no cut.”
