The reality space opened up new doors for me: Rithvik Dhanjani
For Rithvik Dhanjani, some experiences never lose their appeal. Returning to the adventure reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi, he says, was an instinctive yes — not just because of the thrill, but because of what the journey offers him personally.
“This is one of the most enriching and beautiful experiences of my life. I would pay to go back and do the show. I’m lucky enough that I’m getting paid to go,” he says.
Rithvik reveals that despite being adventurous by nature, skydiving remains the one experience he has consciously avoided. “Freefall is something that used to scare me a lot during Khatron Ke Khiladi. I feel I overcame that fear during the process of doing the show twice. I’ve done almost every adventure sport in life except skydiving. I’m still scared of it, so my fear of heights hasn’t completely gone away,” he shares.
Reflecting on his professional journey, he says his transition from acting to hosting was never part of a larger strategy.
“I would say it found me,” he says. “You never come in with a set plan because no matter how much you plan, destiny comes along and says, ‘That’s not for you. I’ve planned something else,” he says, adding, “I think it’s much better to completely surrender, let life unfold, and be present and honest in every moment. Life will automatically take a shape you never even imagined it could.”
While acting remained his first love, television’s repetitive nature eventually pushed him to seek change.
“I’ve always loved being an actor and doing what I do. But after working in television for so many years at the start of my career, I began to feel a sense of monotony. I thought, ‘If I do the same thing every day, I’m eventually not going to enjoy the craft,’” he says.
Reality television opened new creative avenues. “The reality space opened up new doors for me. It allowed me to focus on the specific acting projects I wanted to pursue. Over the last few years, most of my work has been on the web, and that’s a good space to be in,” he signs off.
