Throwback: Dilip Joshi aka Jethalal mixes up reel and real wife on Kaun Banega Crorepati; see Disha Vakani's epic reaction
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most loved and longest running sitcoms of Indian Television. All the characters from the show have become a household names and the show has been running for the last 17 years. Recently, a video from Dilip Joshi aka Jethalal and Disha Vakani aka Dayaben's appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Amitabh Bachchan went viral on social media.
In the video, Dilip Joshi and Disha Vakani are seen taking the hot seat for a game of KBC. They are dressed as Jethalal and Dayaben.
In a moment that had both the audience and Amitabh Bachchan laughing their lungs out when Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah star Dilip Joshi, fondly known as Jethalal, once hilariously confused his on-screen wife with his real-life one during an appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati. His innocent slip-up not only led to a burst of laughter on set but also drew a priceless reaction from Disha Vakani, who plays the beloved Dayaben. It's one of those iconic throwback moments from the episode.
In the clip, host Amitabh Bachchan informs Dilip Joshi that he can see his wife enjoying her time on the show. Dilip Joshi quickly reacts and says that this is her problem she forgets where she is. Big B interrupts and says that he was not talking about Daya but his real wife Jaymala Joshi. Hearing this everyone bursts into laughter.
During a light-hearted moment on Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh Bachchan jokingly pointed out, “Patni ji aapki jhoom rahi thi, waah waah,” referring to someone in the audience. Dilip Joshi, quick to assume it was Disha Vakani, quipped, “Inka yehi problem hai, ye kho jaati hai ghadi ghadi.” But Big B clarified with a grin, “Arre ye nahi, woh peeche jo baithi hai unki baat kar raha hoon,” subtly pointing to Dilip’s real-life wife seated in the crowd.
Realizing his mix-up, Dilip covered his mouth and exclaimed, “Amitji, aaj aisi duvidha mein daal diya hai in logon ne… kabhi Jethalal banna hai, aur kab Dilip, samajh nahi aaraha.”
To which Amitabh laughed and said, “Koi baat nahi, main aapko samjhata rahunga. Kyunki main dono ko dekh paa raha hoon. Aapke peeth ke peeche kya chal raha hai, sab maalum hai humko.” The hilarious exchange left both Dilip and Disha Vakani in splits, with Dilip joking, “Meri duvidha hai ke main sirf ek ko dekh paa raha hoon.”
Disha couldn't stop her laughter and was seen enjoying the moment.
