'Yeh Rishta...' actress Divya Bhatnagar and beau Gagan tie the knot secretly as parents disapprove of inter-caste marriage

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actress Divya Bhatnagar, who has featured in shows like 'Udann', 'Jeet Gayi Toh Piyaa Morre' and 'Vish', is finally married to her boyfriend of five years, Gagan aka Gabru. He is also associated with showbiz and works for production houses making reality shows. He is into artiste management as well. The couple got married at a gurudwara in Mumbai. Divya said, “We wanted a simple wedding without any taam-jhaam and so, we only invited a handful of close friends on our big day. We performed all rituals, including mehendi, haldi and the chooda ceremony.” (Photo: Instagram)

She added, “Everything happened suddenly. We have been in a relationship for five years and have weathered many storms, but we were certain that we wanted to be together.” (Photo: Instagram)

The couple’s families weren’t present at the wedding, as theirs is an inter-caste marriage. She shared, “Gagan and I have faced a lot of hurdles as our families did not approve of our relationship. Every time we thought of tying the knot, we would face a new obstacle. We got engaged in 2015, without our families present to solemnise the ceremony.” (Photo: Instagram)

She added, “My mother was against our marriage, as we belong to different castes. We tried our best to convince her, but in vain. Both my mom and I have been through tough times after my father passed away in 2017. I even moved to Delhi, as I was shattered after his death and not in a state to work. I returned to Mumbai eventually, because I wanted to get my life back on track. Despite all these odds, Gagan and I were sure about being together. Though she missed her family and mostly her mother being around her on the big day, the couple made light of the situation by striking a cute pose wearing sunglasses for the camera. Divya said, “I was extremely emotional, as neither of our families could be present at our wedding. I had always dreamed of a big fat shaadi, but we had to opt for a simple ceremony, as our families were not in approval of our marriage. So, in order to lighten up our mood, we decided to strike that pose for the cameras.” (Photo: Instagram)

The actress stays alone in Mumbai, while her mother lives in her hometown, Delhi. Though the marriage has been a hush-hush ceremony, with only five industry friends in attendance, she hopes to convince her mother soon. “I know thodi naraazgi hai, par mujhe pata hai sab theek ho jaayega, eventually.
