Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai's Romit Raj recalls Shilpa Shinde had called off their marriage 6 months after; says 'We have never been friends after breaking up, we never met also'
Romit Raj garnered immense love in his recent stint with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. In a recent podcast with Siddharth Kannan where the actor got candid about his past relationship with Shilpa Shinde.
Romit recalled, “Yes I dated Shilpa but that was 16 years ago. We met on the sets of Maayka. I had been in Mumbai for 10 years by that time and I had not been seeing anyone for that time Shilpa is a very nice person, she was very helpful and kind to the technicians around and was very nice to me. We dated each other for six months while working together and I just felt that we should get married and she felt the same way.”
He further shared that Shilpa was the one who called off their marriage, “I told my parents she was the one but after six months we realised that we weren’t meant to be together and that it would not work out if we got married. And I think it was a good decision on her and my end. We are strong-headed personalities and we have a powerful point of view. She was the first person to call off the marriage. We have never been friends after breaking up, we never met also.”
Romit also quashed trolls who commented on their relationship when Shilpa was in Bigg Boss, “When Shilpa was in the Bigg Boss house people started writing to me like, ‘You are very lucky that you didn’t marry her.’ They started saying rubbish things about her and I don’t know why but I don’t like anybody saying wrong things about her. You can’t judge anyone by watching them for an hour on a show. She is a kind and intelligent person and after I supported her, she won the show three months later.”
