Actress Kavya Gowda breaks her silence on family clash: They tried to raise hand against my two-year old daughter and threatned to assault me
After news broke out about Kavya Gowda’s family dispute, the actress has openly spoken about what actually transpired, revealing details of an alleged assault, rape threats and a violent attack that left her husband hospitalised. Kannada television actress Kavya Gowda, who rose to fame through popular serials Radha Ramana and Gandhari, has alleged that she and her husband Somashekar were attacked by members of their own family. According to her, the assault was carried out by Somashekar’s brother Nandish, his wife Prema, Prema’s father Ravi Kumar, and her sister Priya. During the incident, Somashekar was allegedly stabbed with a knife and is currently undergoing treatment in hospital. Soon after a police case was registered, Kavya addressed the media and spoke in detail about the domestic dispute that led to the violence.

‘I never wanted to speak publicly’

“Arguments within a household are common. I never wanted to speak about our family issues in public, which is why I stayed silent until now,” Kavya said. She explained that the dispute initially began over a woman named Suma, who was hired to take care of her young daughter. According to Kavya, family members falsely accused Suma of theft.
“She was hired only to look after my child. When allegations were made against her, she became my responsibility. What they accused her of was completely false,” she stated.

CCTV cameras and earlier dispute

Kavya pointed out that the house is under strict surveillance. “Anyone entering our house is thoroughly checked. CCTV cameras are installed everywhere. They claimed the theft happened in the living area, but no one keeps jewellery there,” she said. She added that when the issue first arose, her father-in-law intervened and resolved the matter. “Even at that time, they assaulted us. As a person, I usually let things go. I don’t believe in carrying bitterness or escalating conflicts,” Kavya said.

Incident on January 26

Recounting the events of Monday, January 26, Kavya said her daughter was eating grapes and walking back from the kitchen when family members once again referred to Suma as a “thief.” Kavya said she heard it herself as she was present at the spot. “I remained quiet until then because my father-in-law had earlier advised me to let it go. But when they tried to raise a hand against my little daughter, I could not stay silent. No mother would accept that. At that moment, I realised this could not be ignored,” she said. Later that evening, Kavya alleged that Ravi Kumar, along with Prema, Priya and Nandish, attacked her with sticks, following which the situation turned violent.

Rape threat allegation

In her statement, Kavya made a serious allegation that Ravi Kumar threatened to rape and kill her, claiming political influence. “Who is he to threaten to rape me? Does he think rape is something trivial? Is the law so weak?” she questioned emotionally. She alleged that the attack was brutal and involved inappropriate physical assault. “I do not respect a person who says he will rape and kill a woman in front of others. I could have hit back, but I didn’t because I respect the law. The law must punish him. No matter how powerful someone claims to be, the law is the same for everyone,” Kavya said.

Husband stabbed, hospitalised

Kavya further alleged that her husband was stabbed by Priya and Ravi Kumar. “By God’s grace, my husband's life is not in danger. He is still in the hospital. But my brother-in-law has daughters of his own. How can someone speak like this when he has daughters at home?” she asked.

Appeal to protect father-in-law’s reputation

The actress also requested the media not to involve her father-in-law in the controversy. “I don’t know how this issue reached the media, but my father-in-law’s name should not be dragged into this. He is a good and respectable man. My parents-in-law have given me a good life,” she said. She added that the issue may have gained attention because she is a public figure. “Just because someone claims political power, does that give them the right to threaten rape in front of 100 people?” she questioned.See More: Kannada TV actress Kavya Gowda’s husband Somashekar stabbed by relatives in family dispute; Police probe on a

Why she continues to stay in the same house

Addressing questions on why she continues to live in the same house despite repeated conflicts, Kavya explained that they live in a large joint family. “I love living with my parents-in-law, and they also want us to stay with them. I have been married for five years, and this behaviour has continued all these years,” she said. “I believe people face the consequences of their own actions. But when it came to my daughter and they tried to harm her, I was forced to take this stand,” Kavya added. A police case has been registered and an investigation is currently underway. Kavya reiterated that she has done nothing wrong and is seeking justice through legal means.
