From Mooru Gantu to Premaloka: A look at Kannada TV shows that recently went off-air

Many Kannada TV shows went off air lately. While a few shows were terminated during the lockdown due to different reasons, some went off-air recently. Here is a list of a few Kannada shows that were plugged off.

Although Lagna Patrike premiered post lockdown, the show ended its journey within a short span of time. Sources close to the channel airing the show revealed that the newly launched daily show failed to score well on the TRP charts which is why the makers plugged out the show.

Daily soap Mooru Gantu which premiered last year (2019) went off-air recently owing to low performance on the TRP charts, reports suggest. The show concluded its journey on a happy note as Vikramadhitya confessed his feelings to Shravani. Mooru Gantu was centered on an innocent girl Shravani, who is a huge fan of superstar Vikramaditya. She continues to be a loyal fan of him despite his failures.

This was indeed shocking to fans as their favourite show Seetha Vallaba went off-air after the team celebrated the successful run of 500 episodes. The story narrated the love story of Acchu and Gubbi and the former's valiant efforts to find his sweetheart.

Premaloka is yet another super-hit show that concluded its journey recently. Although Premaloka was a remake of popular Hindi daily soap 'Kasauti Zindagi Kay', suitable changes have been made to the narrative to suit the nativity of Kannada TV viewers.

T N Seetharam, the maker of the show 'Magalu Janaki', announced on his social media handle about the show's conclusion. Stating that the channel airing the show is shut down temporarily, the maker also added in his post that the show will end its journey with fresh episodes post lockdown, which were not shot earlier.

One of Kannada television's most loved daily shows, Nandini 2, concluded it's journey amid the COVID-19 crisis. Sources revealed that the show had witnessed a drastic dip in the TRP charts post lockdown which was the reason behind the fantasy drama going off-air.

Kannada daily soap Subbalakshmi Samsaara, which narrated the story of a typical Indian housewife went off-air recently. While the show had an abrupt ending, the director on her social media handle wrote, "Every story has to have a happy ending. Likewise, Subbalakshmi Samsaara also has one. While Shanaya (antagonist) betrays Garry (male protagonist, the latter understands the worth of his wife and reunites with her."

Even though the show aired fresh episodes post lockdown, it failed to score well on the TRP charts. Eventually, the show concluded its journey. A section of fans on social media had shared their disappointment over their favorite show going off-air, which created a buzz.
