Kannada serial Vasudeva Kutumba: Actors claim months of unpaid dues from the makers
A controversy has erupted around the Kannada television serial Vasudeva Kutumba, with actors accusing the production house of failing to clear their pending payments for several months.
Artists associated with the show have alleged that the production company, Koramangala Talkies, has not paid them despite repeated follow-ups. According to the actors, whenever they demand their dues, they are told that payments are still pending, leaving them caught in a prolonged cycle of delays.
One of the actresses stated that as per their agreement, payments were supposed to be cleared within a fixed timeline after shoots. However, dues dating back to December remain unpaid, with several months of work yet to be compensated.
Another actress claimed that the issue goes beyond delayed payments. She alleged that even basic facilities such as food, drinking water, and proper washrooms were not adequately provided during shoots, particularly at outdoor locations.
The actors further said that their attempts to reach the production team often go unanswered, adding to their frustration and distress.
With no resolution in sight, the actors have taken legal action and filed a complaint at the Byatarayanapura Police Station against the producers, alleging cheating and harassment.
In the complaint, they have demanded immediate clearance of their dues and protection from alleged intimidation. Some actors also claimed they were warned of losing future opportunities if they continued to raise their voices.
The incident has once again brought attention to the challenges faced by television actors, including delayed payments, lack of accountability, and poor working conditions.
Several actors involved say they were compelled to speak out publicly due to mounting financial pressure, with some struggling to manage daily expenses and financial commitments due to unpaid salaries.
What began as a payment dispute has now escalated into a legal issue, raising serious concerns about accountability and labour practices within the Kannada television industry.
