Samruddhi Ram breaks silence on financial dispute with elder sister-actress Karunya Ram; Shares her side of the story

Kannada actress Samruddhi Ram has issued her first public reaction after her elder sister, actress Karunya Ram, filed a police complaint against her, bringing a long-standing family dispute into the public domain.

In an emotional statement given to Public TV, Samruddhi admitted that she had suffered financial losses due to gambling, calling it a serious mistake that changed the course of her life. She said the losses led to mounting debts and ultimately forced her to distance herself from her family. According to Samruddhi, she has been living away from her parents and sister for nearly three years.




She explained that she had borrowed money from friends and acquaintances at high interest rates, which later became difficult to repay. As the pressure increased, she felt overwhelmed and ashamed, choosing to stay away from home rather than involve her family further.

Samruddhi questioned the timing of the police complaint, stating that her financial troubles were not recent and had begun years ago. She maintained that she never intended to hurt her family or cause them distress. “I made mistakes, but I did not abandon my family deliberately,” she said, adding that the situation spiralled beyond her control.

The actress also claimed she faced harassment and threats from people demanding repayment, which affected her mental well-being. She said she had considered approaching the authorities earlier but refrained from doing so to avoid dragging her sister and family into controversy.

Karunya Ram’s complaint reportedly alleges misuse of family funds and assets to settle debts linked to gambling, a claim that has triggered widespread discussion on social media and within the Kannada entertainment industry.

As the matter remains under police investigation, Samruddhi’s statement presents her side of a deeply personal conflict marked by financial distress, addiction, and years of family estrangement.
