It's a double celebration for Anoop Krishnan! The actor, who made his debut in Seetha Kalyanam as Kalyan, has been named the Best Actor on Malayalam TV by the Kerala State Awards. And that's not all—the same awards brought even more joy, as he also won the Best Director title for his telefilm Kanmashi.

In an exclusive chat with ETimes, Anoop opened up about his excitement following his victory.

"I feel blessed. Being recognized as the best is something every actor dreams of, and receiving this from the Kerala State is truly priceless. What makes it even more special is that it's for my own work, Kanmashi. A big thanks to the entire team for their efforts and prayers. Every recognition serves as a reminder that you've chosen the right path, and this one is like fuel that motivates you to do even more," he shared.

Anoop's Kanmashi beautifully depicted the love and life of Theyyam artist Paramu, and he absolutely nailed the role with such perfection that even the award jury couldn't help but mention it during the declaration. It's hard to believe when Anoop admits that he had never seen a single Theyyam performance before taking on the role.

"I believe we all have a chance to be nature's messengers, to tell stories that were left untold. When Anjali brought this song to me, something unexplainable took over me. Paramu's story just came to me out of nowhere. People still ask if it's a real-life story, but it's not. Also, I had never seen a Theyyam performance before. I only had one session with Theyyam practitioner Shivadas before the shoot. But during the shoot, I don't know how I was able to perform. My sister-in-law, who was watching, came to me with teary eyes and said, 'This is not my Anu performing! There's something else in you.' Maybe I was destined for this," he shared.

Along with the State Award, Anoop has also caught attention for his role in Joju George's recent film Pani. The actor expressed that he hopes this recognition will open up more opportunities for him to further hone his craft and grow as an artist.
