Transwoman Nadira Mehrin left everyone surprised with her entry in Bigg Boss Malayalam 5. The second contestant from the transgender community, Nadira, is sure to inspire many. being gang raped by her peers in 8th standard to leaving her home after 12th standard, she has faced a lot. Nadira was born to an orthodox Muslim family in Manacaud, Thiruvananthapuram. She has talked about the several hardships she faced because of her orientation.

However, though she faced a severe financial crisis, Nadira was keen on continuing her studies. She acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and did her Master’s in Political Science too.

Nadira holds the record of being Kerala's first transwoman to enrol for a second PG course. She is currently pursuing her Master's in Theatre.

Nadira made history again by running as the chairperson candidate for the All India Students Federation (AISF) in the elections of the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit. She was also a member of the AISF State Committee and the state joint convener of the Akshita Vidyarthi Vedhi, a women's wing.

Nadira made her acting debut with the movie, 'Freedom Fight'. She will also be seen in the upcoming release 'LLB'.

She was also seen as a news reader on one of the popular Malayalam channels. Nadira had expressed her wish to do so in one of the episodes of 'Oru Kodi, hosted by Sreekandan Nair.
