Diagnosed with Osteoblastoma

"When I was studying in 9th standard, my parents took me to a hospital in Meerut and I underwent many tests. My dad made me undergo a painful test saying 'I will get you Gulab Jamun after this'. Later, doctors found that I was suffering from Osteoblastoma, a tumour that dissolves normal, healthy bones," she said.

Life and death situation

"The only possible treatment was a surgery which has 99.9% chances for death or paralysis. Even though I thought my days are numbered. But, my mom was strong, she believed in God and I had undergone that surgery. By God's grace, it went well and I am here now," Dimpal shared.

Referring to herself as a phoenix (the topic give for her in the task), she said "Even if I am diagnosed with cancer once again, I will run, do whatever I feel. I will live my life on my own terms. Witnessing friend's death at the age of 12

In the task, Dimpal also spoke about the shocking death of one of her friends. "There was no Dimpal without Juliet. We were such close friends. One evening, after leaving school, we decided to travel on a jeep. Soon after that, she started feeling uncomfortable and eventually collapsed. The last thing she asked me was, 'can I hug you?' and she hugged me. She lied on my lap and closed her eyes, for the last time. I knew that something bad was happening to my dear one, but I was helpless. With the help of the jeep driver, I took her to the hospital but we couldn't save her. After days, I come to know that she left us. Her mother called me and the one thing she enquired was 'What did Juliet tell you at last'. Even after 20 years, that mother still asks me the same question, whenever I meet her. Still, I feel uncomfortable when someone hugs me because I can still feel that last hug from Julier," Dimpal shared.
