Chala Hawa Yeu Dya: From spending his initial days in Sion to dating a Marathi girlfriend, a look at B'wood superstar Akshay Kumar's shocking revelations

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar recently made his appearance on the Marathi reality comedy show Chala Hawa Yeu Dya. The actor graced the show along with his Bachchan Pandey co-actor Kriti Sanon and made some surprising revelations about his career in Bollywood, how he survived in Mumbai since he left Delhi, and much more.

Akshay on the show revealed that when he came from Delhi to Mumbai, he first moved to Sion. Akshay said, "I left Delhi and came to Mumbai. I have spent the initial days of my life in Sion, Koliwada, and grew up there. I have really good memories of that place."

Akshay Kumar later revealed that he had a Marathi girlfriend who in fact taught him Marathi. Akshay said, "I had a Marathi girlfriend and she taught me Marathi. I was already acquainted with the language because it was the easiest. But my girlfriend was Marathi, so I got a chance to learn proper Marathi."

The 'Khiladi' Kumar might have given many superhit films in career but very few know that he had flunked in a few subjects during school. Akshay said, "I have failed in a few subjects. Myself and my friend Ravi would sit together in the last bench. We also failed together sitting in the last bench (laughs)."

Akshay recalled a funny incident that had happened when he came to Mumbai for the first time. Akshay said, "I was new in Mumbai. I just came from Delhi and was very new to Mumbai's atmosphere. I was traveling in a bus and the bus conductor was continuously saying "Pudhe Chala Pudhe Pudhe Pudhe Chala (Go ahead, keep moving, move fast)". I could not understand a word he was saying so I stood in between. Still, he was saying 'Pudhe Chala Pudhe Pudhe Pudhe Chala' and I was standing there and he looked at me and said 'Tula samjat nahi ka? pudhe chala' (Don't you understand? Keep moving). I told him that I don't understand Marathi then he said 'Haa main bol rha hu kabse ki aage badh'. I then realized that if I have to live in this state and the city, I should at least learn and understand Marathi language."

Akshay Kumar also introduced his school friend Ravi and said that they shared some very fond memories of their schooling days. When the host Nilesh Sable asked Ravi how was Akshay Kumar in his academics during school, Ravi made some surprising revelations. Ravi said, "My mother would take our Marathi tutions at home. I and Akshay would sit together and learn Marathi. Even though my mother was a Marathi teacher, I would fail in the Marathi subject but Akshay would get higher marks than me, and he would top in the subject. He always had immense love for the language."
