Exclusive- It's just not a character but a huge responsibility: Bhargavi Chirmuley on playing Maratha Queen Jijamata in 'Swarajya Janani Jijamata'

Swarajya Janani Jijamata

' very soon. The show is heading towards an exciting turn as the narrative is going to take a leap of a few years.

Talking about playing this motivational character on-screen, Bhargavi said, "I think performing such an inspirational character on-screen is a huge responsibility. I am trying to give my best because Jijamata is such an iconic personality. She is loving, caring yet a strong-willed warrior queen at heart. I would say it's not about just playing a character, it's about representing women empowerment."


Bhargavi Chirmuley and the entire team of Swarajya Janani Jijamata are trying their best to live up to Jijamata's image. She said, "I've surrendered to the script and let the director and the writer take the calls because everything depends on the storyline and the writing. Playing Jijamata's character on-screen is not that easy. Apart from that, we are all taking care of each and everything. We all worship Jijamata. We are making sure that her image and persona won't get smudged by us anyhow."

Bhargavi, who is a strong woman in real life, feels blessed to perform Jijamata on-screen. Bhargavi said, "We have seen on many television shows that showcase female characters as either vamp or weak. But this is going to be different for viewers and also my fans because I have never played such a character before. I'm glad that I got this opportunity to play the same character on-screen. This is the first time that I am playing a historic character like this. It's going to be interesting as well as a matter of responsibility."

According to the storyline, Jijamata and

Maharaj Shahaji Raje Bhosle

had taken up the challenge to form Swarajya. Maharaj Shahaji Raje has to go down South while Jijamata has gone to Pune with her son Maharaj Shivaji. From now on, the viewers will experience the thrilling events of Swarajya formation and the glorious history of Maharashtra.

Along with actress Bhargavi Chirmuley, actor Shantanu Moghe will play the role of Shahaji Raje while Divesh Medge is playing Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Divesh had earlier played the role of

Chatrapati Sambhaji

in the TV series Swarajyrakshak Sambhaji. Before Bhargavi, actress

Amruta Pawar

was playing the character of Jijamata.

Swarajya Janani Jijamata portrays the life journey of Maratha Queen Jijamata, who is also the mother of iconic Maratha King Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The show showcases important aspects of her life and how she inspired her son Shivaji towards Swarajya.
