Iravati Lagoo and Swapnil Rajshekhar's residential area falls under red zone; actors quit Prem Poison Panga for unit's safety
The shooting of popular Marathi TV show Prem Poison Panga has begun in Mumbai. However, lead actors of the series Swapnil Rajshekhar and Iravati Lagoo have decided to quit the show seeing the rapid spread of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra.
Iravati Lagoo and Swapnil Rajshekhar live in the red zone areas which is the hotspot of COVID-19. Thinking about the safety of the shooting unit, Iravati and Swapnil discussed it with the producer and decided to quit the show. Malti's character will now be played by Rasika Dhamankar and Kailas Bhole's role will be played by Shekhar Phadke now. The fresh episodes featuring the new cast will soon go air.
Actor Swapnil Rajshekhar also spoke about leaving the series and what forced him to leave the show. He said, "I was supposed to leave from Kolhapur to Mumbai on June 28 for the shoot. But 3 Covid patients were found in my building and it was sealed. I had to quarantine at home for the next 14 days, so it was not possible to step out. It would have been difficult for me to shoot. The role of Kailash Bhole that I was playing was so important that the story could not be changed. That is why I have decided to leave the series for the benefit of all. Of course, my friend Shekhar Phadke is happy to play the role. My best wishes to him and the entire cast and crew."
When asked about the same, producer Mahesh Kothare said, "The whole team was saddened that their co-star will no longer be on the set. The roles played by these two are very important and the absence of these two characters would have been a barrier to the storyline of the series. That's why we have invited new actors to play these roles. Actress Rasika Dhamankar and actor Shekhar Phadke will be seen in these roles from now on. My production house and the channel are proud of Swapnil Rajshekhar and Iravati Lagoo who have made such a big decision for the betterment of their families and the entire unit."
