Exclusive! Karthigai Deepam actress Arthika opens up about her initial nervousness facing the camera

Tamil actress Arthika, renowned for her roles in popular serials like 'Karthigai Deepam' and 'Black n white', recently sat down for an exclusive interview with ETimes TV. In the candid conversation, Arthika offered glimpses into her acting journey, the challenges she faced, and her aspirations for the future.

Actress Abitha referred me for the audition. I sent my photo for the Maari serial. The director of 'Maari Serial' said that they wanted a more mature person. After that, when this project came up, they remembered that I had come during the shoot of the Maari serial, and that's why they called me for Karthigai Deepam.

My native state is Kerala, and I completed my schooling and college in Kerala. I didn’t think anything of this while reading. When I was working for a company, a team of directors who came there saw me and asked if I was interested in acting in cinema. But then I didn’t understand. My family situation was similar to that of a normal girl. My family said the industry is very bad and there is no safety for girls. But the director's team gave a guarantee to my family. After that, I acted in a Malayalam film. Before this opportunity, I had never thought of entering the film industry.

When I stood in front of the camera for the first time, I was a little afraid of what everyone would think when I was going to give the shot. So, I don’t get any dialogue or expressions in the first shot. However the team members supported me, and I ended up performing well after that. The first film was like this, and in the second film I acted with Thambi Ramaiah sir. I was able to perform well also because of his support.

Our journey began long before our marriage, within the embrace of a Christian family. We were surrounded by love and familial bonds," she reminisced. "Transitioning into married life brought about profound changes. Our household, already brimming with love, became the epicentre of our shared journey," she added, emphasizing the universality of love and the profound connections it fosters.

While we were shooting near Cuddalore, some people were drinking there. At that time, they said they were shooting a fight scene here. But we came to know later that it wasn't any movie shoot but a real fight between the people. I don’t know if they hit or punched anyone, some people ran away with blood on their hands. We thought it was all for shooting. But only after they left that we were told it was a real fight, and we got scared.

Karthik Raj will be my hero when the test shoot of this serial is done. But only after coming there did I know that he was actually going to act in this serial, and I am really happy to be sharing the screen with such a talented person.

Initially, I didn’t know that the Deepa character was a dusky-skinned girl. I got to know more about Deepa's appearance on the first day of shooting. Everything is art, I'm happy with the dusky look.

A serial has more days of shooting. However, if you want to act in movies, you must shoot for 10 or 15 days straight. So meanwhile, I'm not acting in any films for now.
