Star Vijay to air a new historical drama

Star Vijay is all set to air a new Historical drama series- Chandhra Nandhini. The serial is based on the life of the King Chandhragupta Maurya and his wife Nandhini. Chandhragupta Maurya was one of the major emperors in ancient India and the story is set in the Mauryan era. The drama will be aired from Monday to Saturday from October 31 at 6 pm.
During Chandhragupta’s time Mahapadma’s son Dhana Nanda ruled Patliaputra. According to the serial, Nandhini is the daughter of Dhana Nanda, though in reality, Chandhragupta’s wife Durdhara is believed to be the daughter of his maternal uncle.

It is believed that Chandhragupta Maurya killed Dhana Nanda to acquire his kingdom, with the help of Chanakya. Though it is highly debatable, some people believe he married Dhana Nanda’s daughter. So, the serial Chandhra Nandhini focuses on a deep and intense story between Chandhragupta Maurya and the princess, whom he marries after defeating her father Dhana Nanda.

Nandhini in the serial is no ordinary princess. She is a warrior princess, who grows up learning war tactics right from her childhood. However, things take a drastic turn when Chandhragupta comes and dethrones her father from the throne.

Shweta Basu Prasad plays the role of the warrior princess while Rajat Tokas of Jodha Akbar fame plays Chandhragupta Maurya. The serial is produced by Ekta kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and is directed by Ranjan Kumar Singh.

Princess Nandhini hates Chandhragupta as he killed her family and happiness. He is her biggest enemy yet the two marry as part of the war treaty. After marrying him, Nandhini waits for the right time to take revenge on Chandhragupta Maurya. The two are bound by hatred, but later things change between them. This drama will be a concoction of vengeance, love and hatred.
