Bigg Boss Telugu 3’s wild card contestant Shilpa Chakravarthy: All you need to know about the Kathak dancer-turned-TV host

Much against the expectations of fans, popular TV host Shilpa Chakravarthy stepped into the Bigg Boss Telugu house as the second wild card contestant of the season. Here’s a look at lesser known side of the Kathak dancer-turned-popular TV host.

Shilpa Chakravarthy is born into a Bengali family but she was raised in Hyderabad. Her father worked in the Indian Railways and she has acted in several plays inspired by her parents. In the picture, she can be seen humbled to pose with her maha gurus.

Shilpa obtained her Master degree in Business Management in Hyderabad. She is a trained Kathak dancer and has given several performances as well. A team from a TV channel approached her for a show watching her performance. She was initially scared of the work that demanded speaking in Telugu. But she used to write down her lines in English and Hindi and gave an impressive audition. ‘Wow Ultimate Game Show’ and the daily soap Kante Kuthurne Kanali were her first notable appearance on Telugu TV. She went on to feature in shows like Dance Baby Dance, Bhale Jodi. Her last TV appearance was Anchor Jhansi’s Star Music show

Shilpa fell in love with Kalyan Jada, a media consultant, and the two reportedly got married in Arya Samaj and their respective parents approved of their marriage much later. It was rumoured that Shilpa married Kalyan because he was a millionaire. They are blessed with two kids, a girl and a boy.

Shilpa always aspired to feature in movies. She appeared in a few movies including Trivikram’s Nuvve Nuvve but she was rejected by many filmmakers as she was popular on TV.

The popular TV host looks up to the work of Suma Kanakala, Jhansi and Udaya Bhanu. Suma was her neighbour right from childhood. She was indeed star struck by Suma and her popularity.

Shilpa is missing from action from the past few years. However, this hiatus was planned. She deliberately took a break from work to take care of her kids because she was raised alone since her parents were working. She felt Bigg Boss Telugu was the kind of opportunity she was looking for her comeback.

In her recent interview, Shilpa has stated that she doesn’t believe in planning and resolutions. She also added she can’t be diplomatic and cannot take someone throwing attitude at her. She appreciates people talking on her face. It remains to be seen how Shilpa performs in the Bigg Boss house.
