Janaki Kalaganaledu makes into top 5; here's what actress Priyanka Jain has to say about the show's success
Janaki Kalaganaledu
has made it into the top 5 slots of the TRP charts and the cast of the crew of the show is quite happy about the accomplishment.Talking about playing Janaki and the transformation, the talented actress said, "I'm getting an opportunity to talk more and be a little modern now (laugh). But I also miss being simple like Ammulu. Keeping aside the serial kashtalu (problems that female protagonists have in serials), I'm in fact more ambitious than my character 'Janaki'. She lost her parents now and her world is never going to be the same. It is an interesting journey and I'm enjoying it. We are shooting in the same sets of
Mounaragam
, so it is even more special for me."Priyanka further states that there is a lot to learn from senior co-stars like Raasi, Raja Ravindra and others. "Working with Raasi garu, Raja Ravindra garu and every senior actor on the sets was such a learning experience for me. They have been a part of many films yet the way they take their work seriously is definitely something our younger generation needs to learn. Unfortunately, I didn't have many combination scenes with Raasi garu but her smile, charm and positivity is contagious," says Priyanka.
Commenting on fans' love for Ankit-Ammulu and her collaboration with Shivakumar, Priyanka concluded, "I feel blessed for their unconditional love. Mounaragam has given us so much. Forever thankful to that. I'm happy Shivakumar's show (Intikideepam Illalu) is doing extremely well in its slot. We are looking forward to work together very soon."
Popular daily soap Mounaragam recently went off-air after completing a successful run of 662 episodes. It was indeed a shocker for fans who can't get enough of their favourite jodi Ammulu and Ankit. ETimes TV got Priyanka Jain aka Ammulu talking about her journey in the show, about the unexpected closure and much more.

I didn't want to start with serials but I couldn't say NO to a challenging role like Ammulu. Unlike such roles we see in films, Ammulu is just speech impaired but highly matured, responsible with a yearning for her father's love. This is seldom attempted on TV and I couldn't be any happier accepting such an opportunity.

I had no references but I was just against using the modern sign language as Ammulu was a village belle. I felt it wouldn't be convincing enough. Initially, I struggled with the prompters but we soon got into the groove with the help of the team.

Myself and Shivakumar got to know about it only in the last schedule. We went blank. I'm still blank (chuckles). The last day of the shoot was too emotional to handle. In fact, I even had tears when Shivakumar was crying while shooting for the hospital sequence.

On the funnier side, when we were shooting for the scene where Ammulu was on the death bed and Ankit and the family was inconsolable praying for her survival, I slept for a while (laughs) as I had no dialogues in the scene and I had to keep my eyes shut. We have had many more fun moments in this journey.

We had an exceptional chemistry which reflected in the show. Shivakumar is an exceptionally zealous, hard-working and grounded person. Working with such delight which is also one of the reasons behind the bright chemistry. We started interacting with fans on Instagram and posting pictures together from the sets very recently. I've had people asking me, 'Why don't you both get married?' (laughs)

Honestly, I tried to live in Ammulu so much that I can't differentiate her from my original persona now except for the fact that she has so many 'serial kashtalu' (problems) in life. In a way, I feel bad for Ammulu. I was almost crying for the past three years. I have to feel her pain, only then I can connect with the audience and that's the only way of acting I know. I used to have a lot of headache and chest pain at times.

I've always had the highest regards for specially-abled people and my respect for them has only grown with the show. They are gifted and there is a reason why they are called 'specially-abled'.

I'm fine with my films not working. I have absolutely no regrets about them. My job is to work and go; the rest is for the audience. Today, everyone knows me because of Mounaragam.
