Bellandur lake: NGT gives notices to Bengaluru civic bodies

National Green Tribunal (NGT) has come down heavily on the civic bodies on the repeated frothing of the Bellandur Lake in Bengaluru. The green court has issued notices over the illegal encroachment of the lake and the civic body has also been accused of several environmental violations. The case has been adjourned till January where the respondents will have to present before the court as to how did they give permission go ahead with the construction on this lakebed. NGT’s new guidelines clearly state that the buffer zones should be nearly 75 mts, which was revised from 35 mtrs.
