Dussehra: Traditional 'tiger dance' marks festival of Navratri in Karnataka
Country celebrating Navratri with great fanfare and devotion for nine nights and 10 days. Every year in Kerala and South Karnataka people celebrate Navaratra performing tiger dance. It's a famous folk dance in South India during Dussehra. The last 3 days of Navratri artists dress up as tiger and dance to express their gratitude to Goddess Durga. Preparations for dance have its own rituals and artists perform pooja before make up. Artists paint themselves to look like a tiger. During the dance, they perform stunts as part of the dance. They take part during immersion of Goddess.
