Following the incident of fire in Dera Fateh Singh village in Pehowa sub-division of Kurukshetra district, dry wheat crop standing in hundreds of acres has been gutted. After struggling for several hours, the farmers managed to control the fire with the help of tractors and fire tenders, and due to strong wind, it was getting tough for them to douse the flags. The farmers told that they were working in the fields when they noticed flames of fire from the wheat fields which expanded in no time. It is suspected that the fire was caused due to an electricity short circuit that took place in wires supplying 24 hours power to nearby industries. On receiving the information, the fire tenders reached the spot along with police from Gumthala Garhu police post of Pehowa. The affected farmers told that about 80 acres of standing wheat crop has been gutted in the fire in Dera Fateh Singh area, which also caused damage in Kheri Shishgara and Santpura village areas.
