Hyderabad: Man stabbed to death for interfaith marriage, 2 accused arrested

Hyderabad is in a state of shock and there is tension in the air, ever since a man was stabbed to death near the tehsildar's office in the city's Saroornagar area. Reports suggest that the murder was committed due to an inter-faith marriage between a Hindu man and a Muslim woman. Police have arrested two suspects belonging to the latter's family. It is alleged that the family of the bride was against the marriage, which took place in January this year, right from the start. The man was travelling with his wife on a bike, when he was attacked. The accused pushed Nagaraju to the ground, beat him indiscriminately with rods and stabbed him with a knife. Nagaraju died on the spot. According to the police, Syed Ashrin Sulthana and Nagaraju were college mates and got married in January this year. Sultana changed her name to Pallavi after her marriage. Such incidents have happened before too, a Hindu boy was killed in Delhi over an alleged love affair with a Muslim woman in December last year. The killers were the brothers of the woman.
