Artists from the city of Visakhapatnam participated in a live canvas painting competition on a theme of ‘Save Land Save Vizag’ creating awareness on various issues reflecting land scams in the city. The competition was organised by City Speaks, which was held at Palm tree area of Beach road in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. City speaks is a budding think-tank in the space of urban research and civic engagement and work to bring contextually embedded policies through their research. Infact, the campaign called ‘Save Land, Save Vizag’ kicked off on September 19 in Visakhapatnam demanding action against a land scam that is allegedly being ignored by the state and central government. Residents of Vizag took part in the campaign at the shores of the beach in Visakhapatnam with scores of people signing a petition to raise their voice against the alleged land scams in rural and urban areas of Visakhapatnam. Land is illegally encroached in the city but the government has not taken any action. We urge the government to take stern and quick action against guilty parties and demand an inquiry to expose the corrupt politicians and dignitaries, expressed the locals.
