Heavyweight candidate: Man deposits nearly 20 kg of coins as security in Jaipur civic polls
Vijay Shankar Sharma caused quite a stir while filing nomination when he paid Rs 5,000 of the Rs 6,000 security deposit in coins. The coins were neatly arranged in packets. The rest of the amount - Rs 1,000 - was paid in cash. Sharma says that he collected the coins by performing pujas at temples and people’s homes. He declared his ancestral house as an immovable asset in the affidavit and Rs 7,000 cash as his movable asset. Sharma says he will do door-to-door campaigning without flouting Covid norms.
